Vintage Service Center

Post by Jason@bc »

Hi all, just recently became a contributing member, been snooping around this site for a while now, lots of helpful and useful stuff on here for just about anything you can think off, anyway I've been trying to trace this pic so I can turn it into a dxf, but can't seem to get very far, I'm using inkscape,
maybe it's the pic itself? Wondering if someone could help or turn me in the right direction.

Jason, to make a DXF of this very poor quality photo would be a very time consuming project and would need to be done by someone with better skills than me. I would suggest you contact Julie of Robin Hill Machine or Hemicharger. Both are on the forum and do great work. Wish I could help but it would take me all day to make a file from that.

Traced line by line, node by node is the only way. You can do it in Inkscape that way but you'll never get an acceptable auto trace of that.

Here's what i got playing with it about 20 minutes while having coffee. Lots of details to be added but that's more time and something I and others charge to do. With some patience and practice, trial and error you can get it done and learn a lot tho!!

Thanks! There's obviously a lot more to be done on it but it's a basic start for the OP!

It would take me another 40 minutes to finish it up so for reference that would be about a $65 conversion for me to make a 30" wide cut ready file.

Thank You Sir, it's a lot more than I can cook up with my wannabie skills.
