Are you laminating several together to make a punch?

We have done that where I work to make a specific bottoming radius die or a specialty die.
I'm still not sure what the notches are for though.

The notches look like they are there to run a bead across them to weld the plates together.

Good point, I thought maybe they were clearance for a piece of round stock to weld across.

they work quite well, I just been throwing them in on any extra sheets, not to concerned about the thickness of the plate either because of the lamination, thanks KH

Sorry, I have been super covered up since I posted this. The notches are for welds, I have several welded together, I have cut several out of 1/2 inch I have them spaced in 1 inch increments i.e. 1", 2", 3". I will get some pictures up some time after Christmas.

Old thread but someone might find the files here useful.

With that said, has anyone cut a set of these out? I have found no pics at all.

How far up/down would I need to scale the drawing to fit the Swag 20 ton brake?

Kwikvette - I think you need to become a contributing member to see pictures and download files. I have all of the Swag Offroad press brake dies including the gooseneck dies. If you click on the link below you will be able to see my image showing the difference between the Swag Offroad version and the ones posted at the top of this thread.

The key difference is the width of the tang which inserts into the die holder bar. The Swag Offroad dies use a 3/4" width, while the version posted in the dxf uses a 1" tang width. If you scale down by a factor of 0.75 this will result in the correct tang width to fit the Swag Offroad press brake. Another option would be to simply edit the file and narrow the 1" tang to 3/4", while leaving the rest of the die the same size.

David, I very much appreciate the information!

I am aware I'd need to become a contributing member for downloading said files, but not for viewing images (won't show me any images here other than the one you linked). Just wanted to see one of these home-made dies either in use, or even just in one's hand.

My only concern at this point would be dialing in my settings for 1/2".

Thank you again for chiming in!
