Convincing Curved Rope

Post by rickjamesbish »

Been trying for hours to make a segment or curved rope but cannot seem to pull it off. Any help appreciated. Just need an S shaped segment of rope to use as accents under text. Seems like it would be simple but I just cannot make one that looks convincing.

How big are you cutting it and is it positive or reverse cut?

The issue you are most likely facing is a rope is twisted of many fibers of course. And to give a real rope look to a file, you have to add a lot of detail depicting all the fibers twisting and looping each other.

Let me know about the size and type of cut you're looking for. I may be able to help you.

Well the rope will be cut into a piece of steal so I guess that would be a negative. So the edges and the line that represents the twist would be cut out. I ended up making something that will work but now I want try and make a rope with two loops and loose end hanging.

You don't need help with that. It looks great. I think you nailed it.
