Re: Help needed with text x2
Trying to help OP........and myself too.
Re: Kiah_Matt text.
My sequence:
1.) Open .pdf in Adobe Acrobat and take snapshot of Kiah_Matt portion of .pdf (probably unnecessary step?)
2.) Open Inkscape and Cntrl+V paste snapshot into Inkscape.
3.) Path....Trace bitmap
4.) Rt. click delete image.
At this point everything seems ok (see attached .svg)
If I export to .dxf from Inkscape and import the .dxf back into Inkscape to check the file, it comes in very small and the stroke is approx. 4.0
So, I imagine I am missing a units setting somewhere and not understanding why the stroke is so heavy.
(attached inscape file set to inches....is there a global/default setting for units?)
Thanks,
Charlie

Re: Help needed with text x2
I looked at that picture four times until I saw the face in the hair. I kept seeing a flamingo bent over.
Sorry I cannot help, I do not use Inkscape.

Re: Help needed with text x2
Here are a few things with Inkscape, set the scale in inches, be sure to have the"tool command bar" visible ( under view menu scroll down to show/hide).
When you have an object high-lighted you can set the dimension in the command bar with W and H boxes, if you click on the lock icon, to lock. And change one dimension it will change both to keep the aspect ratio of the object correct.
In the fill and stroke side box click on "stroke style" and you can change the width of the lines, be sure you have IN selected there too. Below 0.005 it gets a little hard to see on the monitor, but a smaller line size helps with fine cutting too.

Re: Help needed with text x2
acourtjester,
Thanks for the Inkscape tips, very much appreciated.
I was able to figure out how to change Inkscape defaults to inches by changing the default template preferences.
You will need to run Inkscape as administrator to save your preferences over the default preferences.
Via Inkscape HELP:
"You can directly save any SVG file to this directory. Saving the file as default.svg will replace your current default template."
