Mini Excavator- Track details issue

I am stumped on designing this track excavator. I have worked out all the kinks except the track. I started on the left side but not sure I like it. This is not a big piece, thinking maybe 24" so I can't have all these cuts. Is there a way of doing this track without losing the detail? Or would I better off to take out all detail on the track? Any expertise would greatly be appreciated. A pic of maybe how you might have done something similar would be awesome.
