thought about the gauge question... I made this mistake in the past... The best way to determine the best gauge for the project is dependent on how you size the overall piece. whether you down size or enlarge, always take a measurement of the gaps in the pieces. if you enlarge, thicker material will be required and the opposite if reduced.

On a laser there isn't any need to grind as long as the laser is set up properly and the slats on the table are clean. With regards to polishing small pars, If it is an Item I want polished, I use polished stainless to start. However, if I need to polish very small parts, when setting up the file to be cut I will add micro joints on the pieces so they stay in the skeleton. That makes it very easy to polish them. Then remove each piece. hope that helps...

Wow, wish I could afford a laser cutter. I only have a cnc plasma.
