Pegasus

Post by mikemurray »

I'm trying to make a sign for a friends birthday and I'm having a problem. I downloaded a Pegasus and tried attaching a name to the bottom and when I save it there is no name attached. I thought once I grouped them they would stay together,

I need to make it 11" x 18' if someone could helm make it a dxf file I would be grateful.

Thanks

Mike

Try this.

When I opened it up, the oval around the name was as solid object and the name was behind it, so when you export it it probably only shows the oval and not the name (which was there, you just couldn't see it). So, opened up in Corel, selected wireframe for the view, then clicked on the name and then TRIM it out of the oval. Then I WELD the oval to the pegasus, then export.

Check it out first to make sure this is what you wanted and if it will cut ok.

Hope this helps.

Great file, what is a method to change this to a DXF file?

If you have Corel, just import the SVG, then export as DXF. Inkscape is the same, as are many other programs.

Anyone know how to reduce the number of nodes? I find that I cut much cleaner and smoother with a minimum number of nodes. I am using DraftSight. Have tried using Inkscape, but when I save the file and reopen in DraftSight, all the nodes are back????? Do I need to buy CorelDraw or are there other options? Thanks.

Start working with SVG's They use a very limited number of nodes. They cut much nicer and due to their very low node count they are very easy to edit. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but I had to say it. LOL

Thanks for the advice Rick. I will have to try to figure that out. I just exported the file from draftsight as a SVG, opened in inkscape and saved as dxf. When I opened in draftsight all I got was the outside border. I will keep trying - no doubt there is a way to go back and forth. Thanks.

We have the cutting shop program and all I have to do is use the optimizing tool and it cleans up all the nodes. There should be a tool for you to do that in your program too.

What is the cutting shop program you are using? In draft sight it is only included when you pay for the premium package.

We have the cutting shop program from Arbor Image Corporation. It's the draftman version so it probably is the premier pkg. Can't remember it's so long ago! We've updated a few times. The software was all included with the Dynatorch table we purchased in 2007.

Looks like a great program. Pretty pricey though.
