Great original file and modification. I changed the phrase up a little. Im doing these 32" wide and 1/8" thick with welded hangers. Just did a 4 foot wide painted the same way. I do the hangers so the flag is offset form the wall about 5/8" off the wall, with an adjustable standoff lower down in the center so you can make sure offset is the same all the way around.

To all that want the DXF file Just look back thru the posts and you will find several different files of the flag with different wording, just use the one you want and add your own words! :D :D :D

Here is my cleaned up version. I broke some of the longer lines separating stripes to reduce warping.
This cuts 32" Wide and I have also done 48". I Usually cut 14 gauge for the 32" and 11 gauge for 48"
Im a poor boy so don't have the fancy Design Edge that lets you export DXF.. who would think you have to pay $1000 extra to pick up that feature .. so here it is in PCM.

Also does anyone know what font was used in the flag posted in the original mod ? When I do custom phrases Im having to pick letters from existing phrase and make letters that are not there.

For the font you may screen shot a letter like the D there is a font company that will look at your example and give the names of fonts they think match. Looking at the windows fonts on my system it is close to either "Balloon Xhold Regular" or "Bazooka Medium" but not exactly.
I hope somebody converts this to SVG of DXF

Thanks. I would have definitely put it as DXF if I had the option.

You marry into the PlasmaCam family and must accept the fact your software and hardware are proprietary. It's a for better or for worse engagement with overwhelming security. PlasmaCam controls the computer, table, hardware to their advantage IMO. :x

I have cut one of these, as a test piece. I'd like to cut and finish a few of them. How are you guys masking these for paint? I'm assuming the "green masking tape and time" answer. There has to be a way to create a mask for high-volume paintwork, right? Would some kind of overlay work? A guy I make control panels for, has a vinyl overlay made. It has the switch names, company logo, etc. Depending on how long these take to mask by hand, it may make sense to purchase disposable vinyl overlays, to use as paint masks.

What do you guys think?

I have used green, blue and orange tape. Think the blue is better. Masking takes me about 15 minutes. I pick the straightest, longest cut lines and run the tape edge along that. The other edge over laps the other side and I just run a blade down it. I use 2 different widths. A thinner one that is just slightly wider than the top lines and then a wider one that is slightly wider than the bottom lines. Piece of cardboard over the star section with tape around it edges and then paint the stripes first. Leave all masking on and then remove the card board from star section. Cover rest of flag with cardboard and I use a piece of sheet metal on edge of stars section. Paint start section. Let dry and the remove masking and clear coat.

If this video works https://youtu.be/97sKopToMCE you can see as I remove masking how I do mine. Disposable vinyl sounds like a plan.. depending on cost.

Some programs don't like to play nice and you need a work around. I could open the file with SheetCam but not Inkscape.
I have the free version of QCAD and I have found I can open some files there then save them using a different DXF format and add an extra letter to the file name so I know the new one. I can ten open it in the program that I could not open it with before. :D
get a few free versions of software for reading DXF so you can use them to help to open odd files you download from other people 8-)

Here's a photo of one I recently did. I use a lot of the Steel F/X patinas but have yet to try their dyes. I'm just starting out so I don't want to get in over my head too quickly with powder coating and airbrushing. I made this one using Dupli-Color Metal Cast Anodized Color in Blue and Red. The silver is simply polished mild steel. After painting I clear coated everything using Steel F/X's clear coat. Thought I might put this out there as an option for people who aren't comfortable airbrushing.

Someone asked about how I did the standoff hangers but the PM would not let me attach file extension jpg ? Anyway I cut D Ring shaped hangars about 1" x 1" . Flat part is welded to back of flag so hangar is sticking straight out. 2 hangars .. 16" center.

Tried one of these it came out ok, I am very very new to all of this. I used rustoleum apple red and navy blue  , I did not read all the tips and tricks until after I did this, I can not say it enough how great this forum is for newbs trying to get into this. Going to try some of the metalcast paint this week and see how that turns out then the next step is airbrushing and some steel f/x patinas.
