Heritage Classic

Post by John Frantum »

2 customers were persistent that they wanted a Harley FL, so I decided on the Heritage.
I tried finding the right file from every source I know of, but no luck, so I got impatient and made my own.
I started with inkscape, but it was so full of nodes and other garbage that I just did an old fashioned trace.
So, if anyone else is facing the same dilemma, here ya go!
It took quite a while, but I think it should cut pretty good.

I just noticed that there are a couple spots that need to be trimmed and I didn't round the corners on the heads.
I fixed my copy, but you might want to give it a once over prior to cutting.

I cut one out today, it looks pretty good, but I can't seem to upload a jpeg in the reply.
At any rate, there were a few issues, there's a line that needs to be deleted on the leading edge of the fork tubes at the front fender, also there's a trim needed on the gas cap.

I trimmed some lines, deleted some duplicates, joined the perimeter as a single entity, and created layers for perimeter, interior cuts, and the bend slots. Some of the detail (cylinder fins, etc) is still too small for my finecut kerf. These areas will need widened up at current scale (I changed it to 30" wide), or scaled up until the kerf can fit.

Great trace. Thank you very much.
