Re: 3d "soccer ball"...definitely NOT a fire pit
Hate to give up my super secret formula but......
a= the edge length
The circumference RADIUS is found by Rc= a / 4 * The Square Root of (58 + 18 * The Square Root of 5)
(I had to change the Square Root sign to text because the forum just couldn't understand the Ascii character.....
So if you want a diameter of 60" set your Rc equal to 30 so....
30= a / 4 * The Square Root of (58 + 18 * The Square Root of 5)
30= a /4 * 9.912074636
30=((9.912074636 * a) / 4
120=9.912074636 *a
12.106446370386269153593165094888 = a
so your side length should be 12.106 inches.
To simplify the process, multiply the desired RADIUS by 4 and then divide by 9.9121 .
I just KNEW my love of algebra and geometry would pay off eventually!
Or just use this online calculator to find all the other fun specifications like surface area, volume, and mid-sphere radius.

with all the ruckus I stared up on the copyright or not.(publicity stunt) there sure is a awful lot of .dxf, .cad file sales going around with Hugh Detailed Disclaimers that i'm thinking no one is reading. not considering the geo fire pit in this, just enlightened disclaimers everywhere.

I don't see how anyone can have a copyright on a shape or on designs on a shape. Sounds way to far fetched other then his designs. He sure did not invent the shape.

We have also applied for Trademark Protection for our name and products.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
When you purchase a set of files or any other digital product from our website you are entering an agreement with us to abide by our copyright policy. We try to help other small business and mom and pop shops to be able to use our patterns to make some income so we have created a policy in line with that goal.
1: You may make 50 cut kits from a pattern after purchase that you can sell or do what you want with. After this you will need to repurchase the pattern from our site to gain a user license to make another 25 products from it you can repeat this four times but after that we consider you a mass producer and you will need to negotiate a commercial use license for the patterns you want to make. Each commercial use license is different and is based on your individual plan to execute.
2: You do not have the right to post our files images or assembly guides online or share them in any digital format. You may Not make printed copies of our plans for resale. You may only print one copy of the instruction guide for each kit that you sell and are Not allowed to sell or distribute it digitally in any form.
3: You may not sell, give away free or distribute electronically on the internet CD rom or DVD or flash drive any files or instruction PDFs you purchase or download from this website. You may not post our free files or documents on any forum or website without our express permission in writing. All products are copyright makecnc.com llc, a registered Delaware limited liability company.
A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE
At makeCNC and makeCNC workshops we work hard to bring you an ever expanding library of patterns and projects to make with your robotic tools and scroll saws etc and we do not make a fortune doing it because we keep our prices Low enough for you all to afford...It takes Many hours work to create just one pattern so you can imagine at the prices we sell how can we make money ? It's to do with the volume and we have enough products online now to keep food on the table.
BUT this only works because You, our Wonderful Customers support us and DO NOT share our files freely among your friends and family or on forums and Facebook. The most certain way to see no more patterns is to steal our Hard work and share it around. Please help us to continue creating these wonderful patterns we enjoy so much making for you and report piracy to us as well as Not become pirates yourself. If you want to learn how to make your own patterns then visit us at makeCNC workshops and we will teach you how and even help you sell them. You don't have to steal!

The difficulty counting could be from all the blood rushing to your head. Try not bending over so far.Gamelord wrote:25 huh....hmmm, I can only count to 21 when I am completely naked.... But I guess I will try. If I mess up I will have to start over.

Re: 3d "soccer ball"...definitely NOT a fire pit
Not to burst his bubble, but he going to have someone to watch all those who makes his 49 pieces. I'm sure many of them will never reach that magic number. I guess they'll just have to depend on the old honesty policy, LOL. Yeah right. Believe me, when it hit the web, and someone likes it, they'll find a way to make it their own. Heck, I created something using images that were shared on here, then saw it on someones page, and stating he is the original designer. I figured I shared it here or all, but he could have given a lil credit, but, se la vie...

I made mine years ago by just grabbing a soccer ball, measuring the pieces and then laying it out in Corel, then sizing the whole thing up to whatever size I needed. Really pretty simple. Corel even has the shapes already in default, just plug in the size.

Re: 3d "soccer ball"...definitely NOT a fire pit
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but, Is the file in post 1 for half of the unit?
If so, when making 2 of them, will they fit together when they are cut to make a "soccerball"?
Thanks for any input.

Hopefully this isn't dumb question but here goes: Is this design for half of a soccer ball and I will need to cut two of these for a complete soccer ball? And second: THANK YOU FOR THIS DESIGN!!!
