Jaydens Butterfly 3D

Post by flasharc »

I did this for my little girl. Once you cut it out take and bend the pcs up to give it some dimension. Weld a stake to it and it makes a nice pc in your flower garden. I have a guy that I use to powder coat my cut out. He dose a really good job for me. Wish I new a good air brush guy cause you could really do a lot of neat colors on these butterflies. Its to much work for my powder coat guy to do a lot of different colors to a pc.

Thanks for the post flaskarc. What gauge metal works best for bending this. Maybe 18 gauge or thinner?
Thanks again

I use 14ga for all my cut outs. yes its a little stiff to bend but I think it make for a better pc. I will try to post a pic of one I've done. Thanks Jason

Thanks Jason, I have lots of 14 drops I can use. As far as painting goes don't go looking for a air brush guy. Air brushing things this simple is a no brainer. You can purchase a decent brush and some paints for the price most artist will charge you to paint a few pieces. It's easy to learn. There many videos on you tube showing you how to get started. A butterfly would be a great piece to learn on because their is no exact pattern it would have to be. Highlight the edges of the wings and add spots here and there just remember to try and make both wings look pretty much the same. I think I'll cut some of your butterfly's this weekend and paint them up. If I get the chance I'll post pictures of them. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
