Keeping in line with our other hot rod car signs, here's another one. I'll post the DXF file in this post, but look for another post that shows our process from cutting the sign to how we put the LED sign together. Thanks a million!

I've had a few people message us about how we put our LED signs together. I figured it was easier to do a post and show the pictures of our process. Ask any questions you may have, we''re happy to help out.

After we cut the sign, back and bands on the plasma, we weld the front sign to the 2" band.

We use acrylic covered with vinyl to get the color behind our signs and then put 2 rows of white LED light around the diameter of sign. We also do vinyl cutting so we are able to accurately cut and place the multiple colors where they need to be on the acrylic.

We weld the back piece onto the sign and attach the hanger and we're ready to go. Here are a few pictures of the LED's and power supply we use, they can be found on Amazon. The leads and thumb switch we purchase from Lumenedge.com which is in Northern California. Their prices for this type of switch and leads are pretty good. They also install the switch inline so it's easy to attach to the light.

thanks great information my wife does vinyl cutting i've been thinking about doing some backlit stuff but I wasn't shure if vinyl would allow enough light through do you use a special type of vinyl

What guage material for face and sides? Also how did you attach the acrylic?

Awesome, I was thinking of something along these lines using different colour leds but the simple use of the perspex makes it so easy.
Cant wait till I get this machine up and running.

The gauge we used for the bands was 16 gauge. In fact, we used 16 gauge for everything. If y'all have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

We used 16 gauge for everything, front, sides and back. And to attach the acrylic we have some really great glue from Klingspor called CA Adhesive Glue. It's a Cyanoacrylate adhesive and is pretty much an instant set for metal, wood, vinyl, acrylic, etc. Less is more and it works great. They have other brands that can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes though.
