To answer all your questions, here is a link to the gravity hook web page that the original post was from. It has a video of how to use the hook.
I appreciate all the gratitude posted. Too bad the original person asking for help has yet to respond.

That is pretty slick, have seen similar designs at outdoor shows like the Boat, Sport and Travel here in Indiana. This would be pretty handy for things falling out of treestands and not having to climb down to pick them back up.

Does it work very well? I know that a lot of things look great in their advertised video, it wouldn't take much to make one but since you already have it helps me out....

Hi John, how does this one work mate, won't you need a d-shackle at the top where you have a nut and bolt to be able to fix a rope or tether?

Did you use the posted .dxf or your own file? I doubt I wait to find out by the time I cut my first one but thought I'd ask.

Sex nut aka barrel or Chicago type bolt would be a good choice for this application.

I understand how this hook works but just curious how people are using them. I'm sure there are many practical uses for them.

You'd be surprised how many different ways you would use this thing and how many situations it is beneficial. Keep one in your truck or on your pack if you carry one and you'll be glad you have it. It makes for a great bow/gun hook to lift/lower them for the treestand or if you drop something out of the stand. I up scaled one drastically and cut it out of .25" and use it quite a bit as well, plus it has sparked a hydraulic idea for a skid steer attachment.

I figured I'd make one from 1/4" to pull sprouts/saplings. Gotta' get the correct pins or bolts yet but I'm anxious to try it.
