I imported the .DXF into CorelDRAW, spent entirely too much time labeling all of the curves and organized it into outside/inside cuts in two separate layers.

This should make it easier for the SheetCam crowd. I tried to attach the relabeled .DXF as exported from CorelDRAW, but it was 5.5MB and too big for the forum.

Go easy on me, I'm learning. ;)

Cheers,

Matt

:? :? I'm not sure why you would do that.

There is no need for separate layers for sheet cam and if you've made the file so big you've done a lot wrong.

I've been under the impression that you need to differentiate between inside contours from outside contours in SheetCam by selecting the proper layers:
SheetCam_Layers.jpg
As for the .DXF file size - I don't have a good explanation for that yet.

Matt

Typically if you have a closed object ie: something with a perimeter you select "outside offset" and Sheetcam will automatically offset inside cuts to the inside and outside cuts to the outside. If you are cutting something into an existing piece ie: a tree of life into a saw blade then you select "inside offset" and Sheetcam will automatically do the offsets correctly. On open paths ie: single cut lines you can choose to have no offset or inside/ outside offset. It will also automatically set the cut direction to what you have it set to (normally reverse direction) to keep the waste on the correct side of the cut.
Another setting you can change is whether to do all inside cuts first, then all outsides or complete each object first which is what I normally use, ie: on the jeep firepit one you would cut each piece before moving onto the next.

Wow - OK...very good info there - thanks! I guess I shouldn't have taken the demo videos I've been watching too seriously.
While my table is being built, I've been trying to learn the software workflow the best that I can.

Sorry, I forgot to add that when you select inside or outside offset it also automatically puts the lead ins and lead outs if used to the correct side and set the cut path order to your preferences, if you wish to change the location or sequence you can.

Very creative, Dude. I love the fact that it is a knock down unit....that makes it very easy to pack up and take on a camping trip. Although, 3/16" material is still heavy to handle. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, Love the Jeep fire pit. but I had to cut the tabs off because the slots were to small for the tabs. I welded it through the slot holes and then used a 80 grit sanding disc to finish it off. What do you think? I'm going to paint it with high heat paint tomorrow.

I had to go back to page 8 to find this. I guess that is what search is for. another version of this that I made. I had a pallet of old tire chains that I used on the "tailgate" and modified the grill.

First time sharer here. I wish I would have found this site before I put many hours in on my own Jeep Fire Pit. Here are a few different ones.

I cut one per original file size (approx 22" x 24"), out of 3/8. Using the sheetcam plasma calculator from another member, my "standard" price for this would be $150. That's straight off the table, only knocked off dross. Looking at some of the examples listed online, that seems to be quite inexpensive! The same unit, sold here:

http://www.thefirepitfactory.com/#!firepits/cjg9

Theirs is $418cdn as equipped like mine (floor, grill, feet), which is still $330 usd What am I missing here? Their flat rate shipping is an additional $109cdn.
