Re: 1964 Ford truck
What would it cost to have a good trace of this?

Thank you Hardcore! Can you share your process please? I've tried making it black and white with gimp and then tracing it with inkscape and it just came out all garbled.
Here's the project with your trace. Obviously not cut ready just a ruff draft.

Re: 1964 Ford truck
You have a couple of issues. One between the o & r - broken line on one side. The other at the end of the tail on the d - line crosses over its self. Other than that I didn't see any problems. Maybe someone else will see something. Overall a great file.

Take a look at this and see what you think. Fixed the broken line between the O and R and the tail on the D also another broken line in the ford.

Re: 1964 Ford truck
How did you find the cross over? I can find the broken line by going into node edit and selecting a node the hitting tab and it will stop @ the last node that isn't connected.

Re: 1964 Ford truck
Thanks and sorry for the late reply, I wasn't in the shop yesterday. You asked about my process... Well pretty much all I did was copy/paste the file into AutoCad, then traced all the outlines and details with the spline tool. I find it takes longer but its more fun than fighting with the program to get it to auto trace the image correctly. Plus you always end up with something clean afterward instead of a bunch of jagged edges and parts of the image missing. Also the project you put it on looks great so far

Re: 1964 Ford truck
Is the "spline tool" an option in auto cad? What version of auto cad? Do you use a mouse or some kind of touch screen tablet and a stylus?
I'm going to cut it out tonight and I'll post some pics.
Thanks again!!!!

You will need to fix the lower part of the "J", it will drop. I also found 6 gaps, other than that it looks good. I posted a picture so you can get an idea of what it will look like, the gray lines are kerf width cuts.

Re: 1964 Ford truck
Wow, I'm really bad with quick replies on here haha. Yes, spline is a drawing tool in Autocad. I run Autocad 2007 but I'm pretty sure its in every later version as well. (I haven't tried earlier versions) The icon for it is just a little squiggly line. I just use a cheap wireless Logitech mouse to trace all the lines and details.modelaratrod wrote:Is the "spline tool" an option in auto cad? What version of auto cad?
