need help tracing branches in inkscape advice wanted

Post by alonzo83 »

I picked out a three panel tree branch design from this forum another member wanted help with to practice my inkscape skills with and having issues getting the bitmap to trace correctly.

Currently the best trace I have been able to make I used the brightness cut off at .35 and here is the end result. Though it is very similer I would like to do better. What could I do to improve?

I cut out two of the panels in the dxf to adhere to the size limitations of the forum. But you can still see my issue.

Regards,
Alonzo

My girlfriend used an app on her phone called background eraser but it still needs a lot of work to make it right.

Not sure how to get better drawings without so much effort. Surely I am overlooking something.

With the shadowing in the background, this will be difficult to auto trace. may have to redraw it, or create your own. You can do this by drawing/tracing a basic picture and then splitting it into three parts.

Here's my try. I included the svg, eps and dxf files. My software shows all pieces are connected, but might want to check it out before cutting. DXF has many nodes. Hopefully one of the files will help. Otherwise I'll post dxf when I figure out the node thing.
