Arc Fitting Tolerance

If I adjust some of the settings in sheetcam like arc fitting tolerance and circle recognition limit I can decrease the dots on the screen considerably without changing the overall shape of the image much. Is this the same as or similar to reducing the nodes in a corel dxf file by using something like DXFTool.
