You should be able to select your drawing your drawing software and it will give you the maximum height and length of your drawing. Sheetcam will also show what your size is and will allow you to adjust it by changing the ratio when you import the file in. Once the file is opened It will be on a grid and by placing your cursor on the top and right sides of the drawing it will give you a real close measurement. The numbers will be on the bottom of the page. Hope this helps.

If you bring in the file to inkscape you resize it how ever you want. When it is selected (arrow box around drawing) you can see the size it is on the tool bar. You can click on the lock icon to maintain the aspect ratio of the drawing then change one of the dimensions to the size you want either bigger or smaller. then save it I add the size in the new name for later reference.

Hi kennye

If you want, have a look at the "Arclight" video's for using Solid Edge 2D software 8-)

I use SE 2D and its bigger brother 3D solid modelling, in the 2D version I found the feature of being able import a file and size it to whatever you want it to be a great tool :D
I think the 2D SE is a free download? but you would need to find out what the latest deal is with the software
Overall I have found that SE is really easy to use and doesn't take long to grasp the commands ;)
Best Regards to all

I use Inkscape also and it won't let me open .dxf files. How are you opening them to resize?

Some software don't play nice, I have downloaded DXF file from here and the will not open in Inkscape. I use a work around by downloading QCAD (free) and opening those files there first I then save then as DXF and change the name by adding a A to it's name. It will then open in Inkscape fine. There are other software packages that can cause a problem like the shape is somewhat screwy or the dimension are not correct. Once you learn to work around these things you can make usable files. There are many formats of DXF and some just won't work well with programs other then the ones they were created by, You see some with different years as part of their names.
In Inkscape I found you import images and open files like DXF or SVG.
