Odd pause in motion...

Post by davek0974 »

Been cutting a bit today and some of the parts had many 12mm holes in them, I always try and keep the lead-in to the centre so had a 6mm perpendicular one programmed.

When the cut starts, the IHS is done ok then the torch drops to cut height and runs the lead-in but when it reaches the perimeter there is a clear and definite pause in motion, not seconds but very noticeable.

G-code shows a G03 in use here.

On a shape cut, i still use a 5-6mm perpendicular lead-in but the is no delay at all - it just runs from lead-in to cut as expected.

G-coed shows G01 in use.

Is there a reason for this or something i can check as its not doing my divots any good at all :(

Have you tried using an "arc" lead in, instead of perpendicular? May give you a smoother transition.

Are you using any sheetcam rules?
I can get that pause but not on inside circles it's usually on a outside cut if I use perpendicular lead in.

Hi

yes there would have been a 60% reduction in speed in force but thats all really.

I use perpendicular on all jobs but it only does the delay on holes??

That's odd,
Does it disappear if you turn off thc?
This is what I use on holes less than 35mm dia

That causes a pause in mine.. I kind of thought it might be a SheetCam issue? I just stopped using it, and just use the other two lead-in styles..(for now anyway)

Mine is the 3100 series THC..

Cant see how it can be sheetcam, my money is on Mach3 or THC possibly. The G-code created by sheet cam looks ok.

I had a similar issue when I uploaded the tool files from CandCNC, turned out to be the THC ON/OFF command in the g-code was pausing my machine.

Yes

I have Les over at Sheetcam looking at that now, I have a double S10 code entry where it should not be, that is the suspect at present.

I have narrowed it down to where sheetcam auto detects outside or inside cuts -

Job has outside cut only = code ok
Job has inside cut only = job ok
Job has outer and inner cuts, sheetcam set for outside and auto detects the inside = duplicate entries.

I have had SheetCam for about 12 years, and always check with Les on funny things happening like that.. You tend to get it resolved one way or another..
