Curved/arched Text question.

Post by RGR »

I am curious if the Torchmate software is capable of curving/arching "only" the bottom of the text. I can do all the other text options, but this one has me stumped. here is an attached picture of what I am trying to do with the text. Thanks.

If you cannot find how to do it you can use Inkscape by using the "envelope deformation" click on path then path effects and then the + sign and select envelope deformation. then select bottom bend path it puts a line below the text and take the cursor and move it up in the center. see attached.

Jester... thanks for the helpful tip!! One thing I noticed is that you must "convert object to path" a second time after you are happy with the shape otherwise the vectors will revert to the original object to path conversion shape in the background.

Thanks

Thanks Buddy. I really dont think the TM cad can do this. I could be wrong. Does correl Draw offer this feature aswell? Thanks for sharing the Inkscape way to do it!

I forgot to put that step in, I learned to do that when I do any changes, bummer to look at the nodes after a few steps and seeing them in the original position and having to back up.

Yep, CorelDraw has it too. I also use the Corel envelope tool to bring traces back into correct proportions when they have too much perspective in them.

You can curve fit text with torchmate. When i click on transform, the first option is fit text to arc. I know a few years ago when I got my software I had to pay extra for this option. The education version came with all the features so I didn't have to pay for it when I upgraded software. Another way to curve text is to make the shape you like then click on your textbox icon. When you drag your pointer over the shape, the T changes colors. When it changes, this means it will fit text to the shape.

Curving text function was taken out of TM cad v9. you have to buy the add on text module to the tune of over 500 dollars to get the function now
