Problem with Dell optiPlex PC

Post by acourtjester »

I am having problems with using a Del optiplex PC for a table I am building using Mach3. I have the bios set to ECP and have run the driver test successfully and mach is using LPT1 address 378. But the signal are not going out on the correct pins. In the device manager resource I see 2 IRQ address posted 378 and another one. I have used another dell 330 (vista) with out a problem but the newer ones are both 360 one running XP and the other running win 7 home. I have searched for info without getting usable info. Need help

Did you check the address for the parallel port in your control panel/system/device hardware? That should give the definitive answer to if you have it going to the right address. From there you can blame the cable. And if stranger things are happening you should be shielding that cable.

Thanks for the reply I did that with no help but after loading another OS and changing the printer cable is seems to be working (at least the LED light for the axis on the BOB now) I have not connected the BOB to the drivers I will do that in the morning.

Connected the BOB to the drivers and they work as they should must have been a bad parallel cable.
