What "5 axis capable" cam software do you have integrated into your Solidworks.

Generally cad software doesn't produce gcode, it will give you a 2D or 3D file then cam takes that file and converts it to gcode (said simply).

Ayup. For instance, you'll take your Solidworks part file, and import it into Mastercam (for example). Then you'll create your tools, pathing, etc. Run that through the post processor Mastercam has for your machine, and THEN you'll have the g code for your 5 axis CNC.

Just saw that was 5 axis plasma...that will be interesting to see.

Not sure about the 5 axis side of it yet (supposed to be coming) but Fusion 360 does have beta test for programming waterjet (and plasma) direct from the model you draw inside of fusion 360 (or import). So I would think when the 5 axis cam comes out the waterjet stuff should be upgraded to 5 axis as well.

Hey,

I would try SolidCam, it´s the Cam Package for SolidWorks.
There you can easy transfer your Parts from SolidWorks, and if you change your Part, it will also change in SolidCam, the Tool path will be automatic updated.

Best regards

Marcel
