QCad Breaking Out Segments/Trimming

Post by Zeus »

Normally, I can divide and break out segments on a entity, but I've been running into "entity is not a line, arc, circle or ellipse" when trying either. It's possible to delete out an entire section of a design, but there has to be a workaround for this just to trim out what I need to. Any ideas??? :?:

Dude! I have the same problem! In fact, that is exactly why I was just now on here looking. I need a solution for this, its so time consuming to redraw the lines with the appropriate breaks!

ANYBODY????!!!

I just jumped over to the QCAD programmers forum and found this:

Spline support in QCad is very basic at this point. This is mainly because splines are rarely used in most areas of mechanical engineering, architecture or schematics design.

It is not possible to add control points, remove control points or modify their multiplicity. Adding multiple control points in one location to sharpen the spline is possible. You won't be able to separate them again later though.

Splines cannot be part of a polyline.

Spline support will improve over time but does not have top priority.

As you can see, this was posted in 2007, so you would think that by now it would have been addressed, but I haven't found anything yet.

I see the original post has a little age on it, but you can try "Explode" a spline which then converts to a polyline. At least it works that way here on QCAD v.3.12.1. Being a polyline won't allow all modifications, but it may help. Explode again and the polyline converts to many short-segment lines.
