I use a Wacom tablet all the time, it's far easier than a mouse for 99.9% of all computer work.

Illustrator and a tablet go very well together :)

I have a WAcom Pro medium and use it for any freehand and semi freehand work (where I have a background picture to use as a guide but not a direct trace) but still use my mouse for some tracing and component drawing (CAD type) in CorelDraw.

Use the search function and type in "wacom" , you'll find several references.

I like all of the Wacoms. Started with a Bamboo years ago and just upgraded to Cintiq 13HD a couple of months ago.

Wacom is excellent. I have used them for many years now and never had any issues.

I am getting ready to order the WACOM 24HD TOUCH monitor. It will be a great help to me.

One thing about tracing images when using the mouse. DO NOT trey to follow a line by hand. it will give you jittery lines. Use the curve tool or the Bezier Curve tool to draw your lines.

I have had good success using Google SketchUp to draw my cut paths. It is an easy program to learn how to use, and it is FREE! InkScape is also a great tool for tracing images, and it is also FREE!.
