STEEL TREAD PLATE

Post by pdjcutandfab »

I'm trying to cut a sign out of 14ga steel tread plate and i'm having trouble, the torch seems to start the cutting process ok but part way thru it shorts out, then re-ignites and continues to cut. I'm getting frustrated b/c I seem to have trouble burning larger items. I'm not sure if the material is warping as it's cutting (I do have a couple clamps holding the material down). Any help would be great

Thanks

I do not know if this may help you, but I always cut tread plate the old school way. Turn the tread facing down and try cutting it from the smooth side up. I just mirror my dxf's before g-code. Hope that makes sense.
