mirror image

Post by azindianrider »

All,

Still working on my system and I have produced some nice things but I cut a sign for the first time with words and I noticed it cuts backwards or a mirror image. the correct side faces down. This also correlated to the position of MACH 3 and sheetcam. I can't seem to find how to change this. I know I can adjust the image to be backwards in sheetcam but that's not really the point. let me know

thanks

you may have the axis for the direction the letters are written going the wrong direction. :o
If you are writing in X direction and you have X + going to the left in the diagram that is what it is.
You can change it in Mach 3 in one of two places.

Thanks but I guess I am not following. Are you saying there is a hardware issue or a Mach 3 setup issue. This is an eagle plasma system. Everything came pre setup in Mach 3. The motors are labeled and cables color coded. THis obviously doesn't mean there wasn't an error because I am having this issue. Sheetcam is writing the gcode. I don't manually adjust the gcode (just not that far yet) The lower left corner is the home position just like in the diagram. Even if I set the home position to the right corner the operation still moves everything to the right and tries to fly off the table.

When I first built my CNC router table I had this happen to me. I never even knew it until I routed some letters on a sign. I know it is a setting, just can't remember what I changed to fix it. (It was a very long time ago). I'll try to find my notes from back then and see if I was smart enough to write it down.
Maybe it will pop into my head later on in the day. ;)

If your cutting backwards go to config/ports and pins/motor outputs and toggle the DIRlowactive for Y axis then restart mach

look at the attached image is this what is going on? (should be looks )
now move the torch to the middle of the table, there are 4 keys on the keyboard, these are the arrow keys for right/left up and down.
The right is for X+ movement the left is for X- movement. the up is for Y+ movement and the down is Y - movement. Push these keys to see if your table moves the way I state I think X is moving backwards. if so do what f_armer said to correct. :)

This is how it would look also depending on the axis direction

I've had the same problem with my table since new. I just check the Y box on lower right hand side of sheetcam screen then it cuts normal but image is mirrored upside down on screen. When I make the change that Farmer said to do my left motor travels the proper way and the right motor travels opposite way. Anybody have a screen shot of what there settings are?? Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank You..
