Pm45 vs 3/8" or 1/2" stainless

Post by gamble »

Anyone done those with good results? Pics and how bad is the warping?
Should it be cut with water level as high as possible or covering half the part?

stuff that thick probably won't warp. you will have some pretty bad dross-burn on the edges that will need grinding. Water covering or not covering won't matter or avoid that issue.

Maybe adapt some of these parameters to your 45?

Good morning gentelmen
I have cut S/S just using nitrogen. The nitrogen came from a 'G' size bottle and leaves a good smooth clean edge. You have to use a high flow regulator as there is a lot of gas being used mainly for cooling. It does not leave the cut edge shiny, however leaves the edge 'dark blue' temper marks colour.
Overall it does work and I didn't change the cut data from book spec. The speed was the best cut speed.
