Jagged cuts?

Post by gamble »

Never had a cut like this before. This started when I got height control

What could it be? typically when a bearing is going bad it doesn't look like this unless it's a bearing i haven't broke before.

It look mechanical but to check cut the part with and without the THC to answer that quickly.
Not knowing the orientation of the part to X and Y axis travel but it could be when both axis are moving at the same time with some slop in the movement. Did you check the number of nodes in the area of the problem.

It's not the nodes as I have cut it many times. The old software doesn't work so I can't test it. I will try without height control. It could be mechanical as this new setup had caused it to crash a few times already.
Guess I will keep rocking it and see if a bearing breaks

Any chance you can tape a sharpie to the torch and draw it on a piece of hardboard?

Since it started with the THC, perhaps the torch is oscillating up and down trying to maintain the voltage?

OOO i think I found it. There is just a very tiny amount of slop in the z axis. I am going to cut out a new plate to replace the back of the z lifter plate and bolt to the existing mount. Should have it done soon, the only issue is I have to take it all apart to see if it fits lol
