Fire Pit Ring Question

Postby seajinx » Fri Jun 22, 2018 4:35 pm

What mathematical formula do you use to determine circumference of a fire ring? Say I want to build a 30 Inch Fire Ring? how long a a piece do I need to obtain this?

30 inches multiplied by 3.14 = 94.2 inches. Circumference = diameter x pi (3.14)
If you want to get real fussy you can allow for material width by deducting twice the material width from 94.2 so this make 30 inches outside the ring

If you are using rollers you need to leave 'green' as we aussies call it so that it will run through the rollers. Just remember this length so that you can cut half off at each end after rolling.

I always weld the rings together, grind/dress the weld off, then through the roller again to true it up.

I am talking pipe and ring production work in heavy industry, same theory applies to small fire pit rings
