tapered tree auger

Years ago I ran across a site selling software to design flighting for augers. The software would do inside drive, outside drive, notched drive. Not having a table at the time I thought it was interesting and left it there. They no longer exist.

I would like to build a tapered auger for myself that will cut a cone shape into the ground. Has anyone ever given this a try? I wish to plant trees.

I built a bender for straight flighting, works well for helical piles. Straight piles are easy to figure out.

Has any one found software that will do tapers? Economical enough for a one time shot?
