Ayup. Just check them over before using. Lots of people putting shit files on Etsy. I think they just don't know better. Crap ton of nodes, loops, etc. As with any purchased file, check it over before cutting.

Its easier to invest in a highly cursive font or a complete Alphabet of fancy letters so you can place them and size them anyway and in any order and build you own files. Best files types are AI and EPS as long as you have a program that can read those formats and let you edit and then esport them.
There are some interesting free fonts and you can find highly cursive alphabets at http://www.vectorart.com. You don't have to buy the whole collections. There may be some other sources for monogram art but you need individual letters you can weld together (in the drawing program to do the cut file.

Here is a kinda neat set: https://www.vectorart.com/store/?frompa ... maxrows=28
Looks like they now have files in SVG that will open in Inkscape (native format) and in CorelDraw. All of the formats listed maintain all the complex curves are are clean and import with minimum nodes

I did a quick search and there are tons of free FONTS if you have a drawing programm that can use standard True Type Fonts (ttf)
here is a link to one https://www.dafont.com/cursif.font Be careful with really thin bodied or letters with thin "tails" they will not cut well with plasma .

There are also some typical fonts like Brush Script than can be welded together to make words that cut well
