PM45 with 30 amp consumables hight control

Post by recon44095 »

how do I use 30 amp consumables and height control? I have a Plasma Cam table with PM45 cutter I also have advanced height control.
do I need to make a OHMIC sensor? change pierce height and cut height. I'm cutting art out of 14,12,10 ga steel
Thanks Bill

Using 30 amp consumables should be no different than using your 45 amp consumables with the exception of determining the correct arc voltage to achieve the proper cutting height. For the thicker sheets your cutting I think your best to stick with your 45 amp consumables.

You can make an ohmic sensor that will work with the 30 amp unshielded consumables. Use a stiff piece of copper wire that extends about .010" lower than the nozzle, hose clamp it to the plastic part of the retaining cap and put a spade style wire connector on the upper end of the wire. Connect the plasmacam ohmic connect wire to the spade connector.
