New z axis suggestions?

Post by Jtucker7000 »

Can anyone suggest a good replacement z axis? I’m using one off of eBay now but the plastic bearings are worn. Velox is the only one that I see mentioned very often. Can anyone suggest other options or is that one worth the money? Best magnetic breakaway?

I looked at the one from Candcnc but I don’t have their electronics and it appears to be a requirement to purchase it.

The Super Z has built in Ohmic Sensor, Mechanical touch off (Z home) , Touch off over limit and I if purchased) sensors for the breakaway. All of that pulls back to the CandCNC I/O card (table I/O) so it is a plug and run solution The pricing is for current or former customers primarily because of support and compatibility. It works with the older CandCNC based controllers but works better with the new CommandCNC because it uses the Z home switch as a backup for the Ohmic sensor in case it misses. We are looking at providing a way on the Super Z to connect up to three more gantry mounted snitches for Homes for XY and slave axis.

Just so I’m clear are you saying it’s only available to existing customers or can it be purchased at a higher price to non existing customers willing to adapt it without support?

Anyone else have another suggestion?

Right now we do not have an option for non-support on other equipment. We are back ordered on Super Z's due to demand so I don't see a non-support option in the near future.
