looking for some advice...

Post by johno down under »

Hi all, I'm still very new to all this, and now I want to try something new.
I have noticed that a lot of you guys like to do cut outs of different cars and trucks. I bought a new vehicle just recently and thought it would be nice to do a cut out of it.
But, I'm not exactly sure how to go about it, or how much detail to try for?? does any one have any pointers that could get me started
this is the 4x4...

the simple way is to contact some one here that you can pay to do it for you like Kidtech

there are others too. If you want to learn to do it yourself you need a drawing program that has trace functions, Inkscape, Corel, and AI.
There are many youtube videos on how to use these programs to do tracing.
For something like your truck pick a place to take a picture of it with one color background and with the sun high in the sky so no shadows on the truck.
Look for the identifying lines or objects in the image to trace, to much detail or closed objects cause problems. Watch for drop outs or things that are to small of to close together. Use the ones you have seen here for examples many are fantastic.

Thanks for the advise, I had a go at doing it and I am sort of pleased with the results..... I thought it came out ok for a first go.

I'll try and take a different photo and try again.
Thanks again for the advise.

Looks just fine enough detail to ID the truck, like many of us learn by doing.
