Questions for Jason or anyone else who can help

Post by little blue choo »

1. When I open the svg files in Jason's complete collection I see nothing. If I go to stroke and set it to .005 I see the drawing. Is there a way to get this done easily or am I going to have to do it to all 1500 files.

2. When I open a car file there are 2 drawings of each, one with a lot of detail and one with less. I am having trouble selecting one of the two. I am using Inkscape and Sheetcam.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Teach this old dog a new trick. :)

Don't know if this is the answer but sometime back I read that the thinner line gives a more precise line for cutting of the project.
I know that does not answer if you will need to do that with each drawings.

The drawing with the thinner line is designed for plasma and the drawing with the thicker line is designed for laser

The higher detailed drawing (has closed lines instead of open ones, etc) is meant for laser. The other is for plasma, as mentioned above. Regarding the line weight issue...not sure on that one. They both open and look the same to me in Corel X7.

I understand the difference between the plasma and laser files. Have even cut the laser files larger with plasma and had no problems. What I'm asking is how do I select the plasma file to take it to sheetcam for post processing with out taking the laser file? I can't select one without the other.

Send them to me and I can send you back the files separated into TWO separate files, one named _ _ _ _ laser.DXF and one named _ _ _ _ Plasma.DXF. :D :D

How about putting them both in sheetcam and not using the one you don't want to :?:

That's the problem, I can't choose just one in sheetcam or Inkscape, and don't know why. Did it once before with the dxf version but can't get the svg version to work. I just tried to send the car files to Larry to separate them for me but they want download on PS now. I need to cool down now. :x

Can you not put both on sheetcam and use the contour tool to place the one you don't want on another layer so it will not cut or show so you can cut the one you want???

Got it guys. Couldn't see the files because the stroke was set to pixels with a size of 0. Changed to in and .007 and there they were. Then I ungrouped them deleted the laser file and saved as file name plus the word plasma. That left my original file as it was but created a new file with the name plasma on the end. Now everything works well. I know there was probably a easier way but it worked. Thanks for the help.
