Cutting sheets longer than table

Post by BanksAg »

We have a 4' x 4' ArcLight table. I have a teacher from a neighboring school who wants to trade some plasma work for some laser work, but he wants to cut a 6' long sign. Are there any resources, tips, directions, etc. out there for cutting a long sign in sections? I tried to search the forum, but I don't think I was using the right search words. While I haven't tried it, I have looked into tiling toolpaths on the CNC router in VCarve, and I have some ideas on how to make it work with the plasma. I'm also waiting for the file to see exactly what he wants to do.

Any tips, ideas, thoughts, or resources you're willing to share?

Thanks,

Tim

What you want to do is called indexing. Take a look at this Youtube video, it should help you figure out how to do it.

Thank you! I thought I had seen an ArcLight video in past but couldn't remember what they called it on the plasma.
