Has anyone ever cut a pancake punch? My question is about kerf, how much is too much? I have about 1.5mm kerf from my torch. I suspect that tolerances are related to what you are cutting.
If anyone has tried this I would be interested in hearing about it.

Re: Pancake punch
If you google "Metal Pancake Punch" you'll get pics of a tool that uses a pattern cut in steel used to "punch" thin copper and other thin materials like possibly leather, to use for mostly jewelry

Re: Pancake punch
Thin materials require almost no clearance at all. You would need to cut the die, then cut the punch with a different drawing, you can't use the drop from the die as a punch. way too much clearance if you do. Might work on leather, or thick fabrics? I don't know, but won't work on sheet metal.

Re: Pancake punch
I did build it finally. I did use two separate drawings and cuttings. I am punching quarter inch ABS plastic, it works well enough though it rolls the first 1/32 of an inch on the top. If I decide to improve it I think i will use a milling machine or lathe.
