just joined! quick question about inkscape and bitmap..

Post by Pat4rd »

hey yall, just wanted to say thanks for the much needed information. so excited to get started (picking up my table Saturday) my question is about bitmap in inkscape. I have done images off google just to grasp an understanding of how to do it. I have my business logo I have been trying to bit map and make a dxf. I just need a little guidance on how to get a more straight, non pixelated image the edges are also really rigged. I keep getting fairly blurry lines, this image was on the back of my shirt and I figured I could get it to work. I go to bitmap brightness cutoff. threshold at .600 ...if anyone has any tips on this that would be greatly appreciated!! :D

I can't help you with Inkscape but would suggest that design lends itself to a complete redraw from scratch. You must know the font used if it is your design so I would just do the text fit to a curve. The welder design is already in dxf format on this site in the file sharing section somewhere. Put all the pieces together in a drawing and save as dxf or svg and proceed to process for cutting.
IMHO you will end up with a much better file.

(510) looked pretty good to me, that's usually a good place to start.

Will this work?
Change the bitmap mode to grayscale then adjust contrast and brightness. Open with Inkscape and do the svg save.

Were you planning on doing this as a multi layer sign? As is you will have about 22 pieces in the welder alone.
