Firepit base holes

Post by Metriccar »

Have you found that most people do not want holes that will allow ashes to fall out? I'm starting to think I should make them solid because people tend to worry about ashes falling out of the bottom. Kind of defeats the point of a firepit.

Custom orders give people the option. Most that I make I do not put holes in the bottoms.

I don't know how to post a drawing, but i put a 1/2" circle and split it right on the outer line. The pieces that do come through are no worse than an ember flying up and out of the pit. I have even started cutting small pieces of expanded metal to put on the bottom when i make bigger holes.

Cleanup with a water hose is much faster than digging ashes out of a pit.
