Truck bumper specs

Post by plain ol Bill »

Do any of you folks know if there is anything published anywhere that will give information about bumper attachment dimensions for all vehicles? Sure would be handy to have for design work.

I'm guessing the answer is No. A local company here in Michigan does prototyping once or twice a year for the product line of jeep accessories they make and sell, and when they do that, they put out an ad on the forums to borrow 2 or 3 peoples jeeps to work off of. They'll borrow a couple or more of the same vehicles, to try to account for manfg variances in the vehicles. So there's that...all i know....Live long and prosper!

I know what company you are talking about, as I install their products on Jeeps. Pretty much standard for any vehicle. A test vehicle to fit up to. You betcha I have measured every inch of a Jeep that I can and written on napkins stashed everywhere.

Yes, there actually is published information on what your asking. The issue is, its provided by SEMA and is expensive. Most of your bigger named manufactures use this because its faster than climbing all over vehicles and guarantees the same "factory" fitment/tolerences the vehicle manufacturer uses.

SEMA actually offers CAD drawing from the manufactures. I think they are only offered to members. Memberships start at $100 and are well worth it if you're associated with the automotive trade in any way.
