Sharpie Pen Mount

Post by tnbndr »

Those of you running pen mounts on your plasma tables. Do you change your SheetCam post to add a tool much like a scribe where it will account for the offset of the pen from the torch center?
Or do you just manually set pen location and run the post?
Just setting one up and curious as to how others handle this situation.

I pull my torch and use this, don't have a offset and do use a separate tool. Will find the post I learned from.

I take my scribe out. I wrap tape around my sharpie to about the diameter of the scribe. Mount it in scribe mount turn down pressure to about 10 psi and scribe pressure to zero. Works good so far.

I made a adapter for a standard ink pen and mount in the torch holder. I did set up a tool for SheetCam that is for the pen only.

I ended up with a mount made for me by acourtjester, although the pen hits the torch holder unless I move it way down. After some playing and help from Dan at LDR I got it all working. Had to set up two profiles of SheetCAM. Dan was going to send me his version of the pen holder but he must have got swamped and it never arrived. I got what I needed done for now but need to revisit the pen holder when I get time.

Good looking setup ..i just printed one of the many available on thingiverse ..The one i use has a slit in it so it never clamps tight on the pen ..It uses a rubber band to put down pressure on the pen and acts as a floating head so the pen can follow uneven surface
