I have one. I prefer to call it a wall of learning however.

No, I just take it to the scrapyard. Although right now scrap is pretty worthless. I got $60 per ton last time.... not even worth the hassle! A few months ago I was getting $170 per ton and it was hardly worth it then.

Yes , but it usually becomes something entirely different with a grinder and a welder .

No, I throw my mistakes in the scrap pile. Then I pull them back out and chop them into small bits so the scrap yard guys don't see what I did and laugh at me. :lol:

I get asked every once in a while, hey what is all this? I just reply "experience" and go on about my business. 8-)

We all need two of them. One for our own screwups and another for customers who didn't pay up.

These need a sign that reads something like;
"Yes, I DO require a deposit".

I have a wall of shame. When I get a chance I will take a picture and post it up. Its a constant reminder that I need to pay attention to what I am doing!

I try not to throw to much in the scrap. Whenever I get a tightwad customer into the shop that is the stuff in their price range. The rest gets used up on projects like the buffalo and bear.

My "Wall of Shame" is the poem I write every year for the company Christmas party! It has really been a hit over the years! As a building construction contractor our guys have done some really really stupid stuff over the years most of the time with the best of intentions. When the guys screw up I just remind them that will be in the Chrustmas poem! They usually just shake their head, hang it low and never do that again! After nine years of an original Rewrite of The Night Before Christmas it has become a year long tradition that helps keep everyone on their toes, if nothing else we all laugh at ourselves for our screw ups! And we have had some GOOD ones! :D :D :D :D

I throw all my wall of shame stuff in a box and throw it on craigslist as scrap metal for welding, coupons etc. I throw a USPS Medium box or rate A box up for $10 and fill it up. Sometimes it takes a little while to sell and sometimes it sells quick. Then I take my larger 2' x 2' scrap pieces and put those on CL as well. Just got rid of probably 10 sheets of steel (about 14 and 16 gauge) and 2 or 3 pieces of aluminum of about .100 thick for $40.
So far I've sold those twice. Got a third stack sitting here waiting to go next.

Everything can be fixed one way or another! If its stuff I'm cutting for a craft show I will try to save it while still on the table or if its not too screwed up I will still clean it up and sell it at a discounted price.

There is that learning curve. People who don't screw up don't do anything!

My son was learning all about glass blowing because it was a major that didn't require a foreign language like most of the other majors being offered. Then he really got into it, eventually winding yup with a Masters in fine art and running the program.

I still have one of his first pieces and it is just as prized as the rest of them!
But damn, it's ugly. :o
