Tech support needed - HPR 400XD

Post by dava »

The company I work for has an alltra plasma cutter, we are having an issue where our consumables have gone from a life of about 1000 pierces to a life of 500 pierces. The operator is saying at the end of the 500 pierces, the spark will not fire by the nozzle. He also said the coolant/pink fluid usage has gone up significantly, could we possibly have a coolant leak?

What kind of plasma system are you using Make & model? (Hypertherm/Thermal Dynamics??)

The coolant for the torch is a closed loop system, so if you have to refill often, then you have a leak.

Sounds like a coolant leak to me and if it is getting into the air stream the moisture will dramatically reduce your consumable life. Check and replace all orings/seals for sure.
