Baby Turtle Hatchling's from Mich. ?

Post by Old Ironworker »

Here are the hatchling's about to leave the shop, ;) Ok, I've had too much coffee. They are going to a Valentine's Day party in the Motor City as hand-outs. This is third order for tree ornaments from this group. :o Don't make a lot $ on them, but getting a few custom orders after each ornament order. Sometime the smallest item's bring in the bigger $$$ !
Have a Great Week !,

This is one where you might have to do a manual trace with Inkscape or which ever program you like to use.
Let us see how it turns out.

Tom - that photo is just a close-up of one of the OP supplied photos above. What I was trying to say is that this would need to be manually traced due to the poor resolution of the photo. I've got a feeling that these may be layered pieces and painted separately before attachment.

They look flat to me. You can see the tabs connecting the center to the outside.

I agree - it looks like tabs, but hard to tell for sure with the lower resolution of the image.

I used the wrong word, I should have said did you use a mask layered over the turtles for each color. Allowing each color to dry before the next.
Either that or you have a steadier hand then mine. :HaHa

Tom - Dale hasn't been active on the forum since 2018. So I doubt he will see this. But I suspect that he did use some masks or masking templates when he painted them. I know that is what I would do. But in any case, a very nice looking herd of turtles.

Here is my attempt at manually tracing one of these baby turtles. You could edit to suite your taste.

Nice tracing David, another option is a web clipart search, and modify to you taste. This on says free some others are more pricey.

Tom - yes I had looked at some of the clipart and thought about modifying or combining several to get something similar. But I went ahead with my manual trace - which is not all that accurate due to the low resolution of the original image. Many ways to "skin a cat".
