"The Saloon" Bar/Restaurant Light

Post by shiner2001 »

Here's a piece I just finished up for my local watering hole. It measure 34" in diameter and is LED lit between the two layers. There is about 2" between the front piece and the background. Background is painted a metallic silver and the logo piece is SteelFX rust and auburn with a clearcoat. Each layer is 16 gauge.

No idea why two of the pictures rotated. They weren't taken that way. Oh well.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it! The response has been good and I've had lots of inquiries about my work, as well as a couple of orders since I hung it up.

Thanks for all the kind words. I've never really posted any finished products on here before, but this one was probably my favorite of anything I've done yet.

For those considering similar, I've done lights with the foreground and background the same size, but like this one much better with the foreground being 32" and the back being 34". With the space between them, it allows perspective from any angle, not just straight on.

@shriner2001 What did you do for a standoff? When I started reading I did not realize the back was larger diameter and thought you had a 2" ring all the way around. That would be difficult with the different diameters! Do you have a few posts holding the front proud?

Nice work.

For just about anything layered that I do, I weld flat head machine screws to the back side of the front piece, then drill holes accordingly through the background. A nut on the front and back of the back ground sets your distance and locks everything in place. May not be able to tell much in the attached photo, it's the only one I have on me now. I can take a better one in the next day or so.
