PROUD OF THIS ONE

Post by radnurse68 »

This was a whole new technique for me. The customer had seen a sign somewhere with bronze brazed on it and asked me if I could do it....I said sure I can. Then went about figuring it out. It took me a while but I worked it out. My main problem was the plate warped from the heat. The first one warped very badly so I made a second one and clamped it to the table. It warped also but not as bad. After a lot of blocking and clamping I was able to get it good and flat. It is made out of 3/16. Then after brazing I ground the rest of the area to bare metal and applied Steel F/X Copper followed by Steel FX Torch then sprayed it with automotive 2 part clear and the result was phenomenal. It is back lit with led strip lights. I sold it to them for $1500. Then I straightened the original one out and welded some hooks on it to hang towels on by their pool and sold it to them for half price, $750. I just burned the second one with the torch and clear coated it to give it a different look. I had a shit load of hours in this but a lot of it was a learning experience. It stands for H2 Investments and hangs in the lobby of their new office building.

It is 46x52 and I had them place an outlet behind it to hide the plug.

Very nice. I really like the idea of brazing on the letters.

Very nicely done! I used to play with brazing and brass when I was a kid, your work has rekindled my interest!
I would also like to know more about the lights you used!
