Some Past Projects

Post by SlagBandit »

First off some of these have been completed with files from this site and for that I thank everyone especially the contributors! I realise this community has had a few bumps in the road but as a whole I still think this is a great resource for experts and newbies! I Learn new things every time I'm here or a different way to look at an old problem. Thanks!

It is great to see other’s work as it has a way in developing techniques that can be used in future projects. Not necessarily copying but helping to understand what effects can be accomplished. Thanks to all members for their posting. :D :D

Beautiful work! Wow!
I am currently doing a 22.5'x5.5' western scene with similar application to your Last Chance Ranch. I have 3 questions...hope you can help!!
I'm wondering if it's powder coated? And if so...I am wondering if you powder coat in sections and clip them together or weld the whole thing together and find someone who can coat that big a piece? Thirdly, this fella's posts are only about 9" diam. Treated posts about 23ft high. Do you think that is beefy enough to take the loading. He lives in a fairly windy area and I'm cutting out if 1/8". Don't know how we'll get it up there! Lol! Guess he'll need a crane. Sure would appreciate any advice based on your experience with this one!

Slagbandit,
That's very impressive work! What thickness are your railing panels?

jubilly2:
You should start another post, but my answer to your questions is the posts are probably too light and 1/8" is too thin unless you are going to stiffen it with something at 22' it will flex like crazy. Why is he going 23' high?
I did a sign that spanned 21' and used 5"x5"x3/8" tube embedded in concrete 60" below the ground. They were 17' tall and I made the ends of the sign with short pieces of tube that slipped over the 5"x5" and bolted. The sign itself was cut from 3/8" steel and even then had flex so it was stiffened by welding 1/4" x 2" steel along the top edge.

Does anyone have their plans or dimensions from the fire pit? I’m looking to make one but I’m trying to find good angles to use

You may want to go over to the DXF sharing pages ( DXF Art - DXF Clip Art File Sharing Forum ) and search for "firepit" many different styles posted there. Check out this page, it looks something like what you may want -- - https://www.plasmaspider.com/viewtopic. ... pit#p68381 :D
