very impressed. I'd really appreciate you walking through your technique and the steps. I just purchased an airbrush (two-stage gravity) and a full palate of the SteelFX dyes. My first attempt just seemed like I was wasting the stuff and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I am not the pro,, Bill has some good videos, I start with acid bath to remove mill scale, twisted wire wheel with grinder, one key is using a new flap disc to scuff the metal, my experience is the deeper the sand marks the better, The rest of it is learning to control the airbrush, it takes practice to adjust to the tint for finished color, I started applying way to heavy with dyes, learned it takes very little color to make it really show up, then figuring out the shading and layers in which you start with,, I start with the largest areas of color then go back and work on detail. (different color and heavier coat of base for shading. you will think at first it is not heavy enough coat, and apply a good quality automotive clear coat ( first coat very light to seal the dyes so they dont bleed, then a little heavier coat. and however many coats you want to add to get the glassy look. I started with scraps and one color to learn the shading, light to dark and fine lines and wide strokes. or even use a piece of whit cardboard to learn the airbrush and how to control the flow and lines. Many videos on you tube about airbrushing. Hope this helps, don't give up , once you figure it out imagination is the limit.

I might ad , think of it as painting with a fine artist brush not a rattle can. less is sometimes best. once you get use to it you can start blending colors to come up with your own colors.

I done this one in honor of my dad,, I gave it to my uncle and actually made him cry as it reminded him so much of my late father.

I might add my late father is my inspiration for a lot of my work

Awesome paint or should I say dye job. I've just started experimenting with Bills dyes and an airbrush and LOVE it.
