Everlast 50S Arc Voltage Divider Default

Post by msimpson99 »

Does anyone know if the divided arc voltages is defaulted to 16:1 or 50:1?

I opened the 50s enclosure and it seems to have been set to the 16:1 by default. While the layout of the jumper was not the same as in the manuals. It did have a jumper, so its default is 16:1. I removed the jumper so it should now be set to 50:1.

This outlines my findings

The problem with the design of the Everlast resistor divider network is that its dividers can be seen as an extension of the divider inside your THC. I nly got to the bottom of it after I put 96 volts through the divider and measured the result. While it is disconnected from the THC you will see 16:1 or 50:1 based on the link settings discussed in that thread. However, as soon as it was connected to the THC, the voltage changed. In my case it changed by a factor of about 1.5 so 16:1 became 24:1

For this reason, you need to be measuring with something that has a high impedance input. If what you are using to measure the voltage is not high impedance, yes you do need to compensate. In my case It is a THC that has a high impedance input so it does register 50:1.
