Scribe/Plate Marker Settings

Post by t8017e »

I was going to tap my air solenoid on with my spindle on Pin 1 in Mach3 but it seems to cause after 8 on's and off's Mach to go into emergency stop anyone have any idea why?

I was thinking its to much load on the output. Maybe a on/off toggle to choose what relay I will be using either plasma on/off or Scribe on/off.

Oh boy, do I know the answer to this one! This problem plagued me for months! Air solenoids are notoriously "noisy" and are known for shooting voltage spikes back up the line when they turn off... Mine was going into e-stop almost every other time the scribe turned off...

Tom at CandCNC finally came through with the solution... You need a voltage "snubber" in the AC line between the solenoid and control box. Here's the one Tom suggested, and as soon as I installed it, not a single problem since then...

Good luck!

I used the BOB (switching +5 VDC power) output to trigger a SSR that turned on the 120 VAC for the solenoid.

can i assume that you don't have the bladerunner box with two 120v outputs?
what setup do you have?

post was for the older table I built and those that don't have that option (CandCNC) control.
And just using a plasma trigger no high volt relays the SSR works great.

not to hijack the op's thread; but i wouldn't mind an additional output on my bladerunner
i've not looked into the bob with the 5v output that would work with the laser cross hairs
i have one output for laser and one that i switch cords for coolant pump and air scribe
would the bob work for lasers? can i switch it on/off with the xbox controller?

and did oldsarge's answer the op's question?

I did not get the +5 volts from the BOB I have my PC power in the same box so I just used the BOB relay to switch that +5 volts to the SSR to power the scribe's air solenoid.
